This image shows the last of the footings complete, as well as the last of the last portion of the “footing wall” going in. If you look to the middle of the picture to the right of the parish hall exit door and around the first window from the left you can begin to see where the “second” entrance to the Activities Center will be. Durring sporting events this entereance will allow you to get to the parish hall and everybodies favorite, the concessions!

Panorama!

This image was taken from the main entrance looking into the main area of the activities center. You might even be able to imagine the bleachers to the right. To the left where the bricks are stepped down will be the entrances to the locker rooms.

Entrance
There is only one picture to talk about today, but this is kinda cool.
This image shows what will soon be the front entrance to the activities center. In the middle background it also shows one of the connection points to the current building that will allow access to the Activities center from the main parking lot, and from other parts of the building. The second access point will be near the current parish hall outside exit door.

Footings Continue
The footings for the Activities Center are continuing to move along.
A large mound of dirt had to be climbed in order to get this picture, but it does a good job at showing the entire project in one picture.
The fire barrier wall is begining to take shape, this wall will seperate the current facilities with the new construction. That big blue pipe sticking up in the middle of the picture is (or rather will be) the main water feed.
This image shows some of the people who were helping to backfill the footings. If you can help out tomorrow (9-25-2008) just bring a shovel, someone should be there to show you what to do. Or, you can leave a comment with your phone number (it will not be published) and we will call you when we need volunteers.

Construction has begun!
For those of you who don’t drive by the chruch and school everyday, the construction phase of the Activities Center has begun. I will try and put up a picture of the progress each day here on this blog so those of you who want to can keep up with what’s going on. I will also be posting “help” requests when they come up for volunteer labor so we can try and keep the price down as much as possible. Anyway, here is the first picture…
This image shows the first blocks being laid on the new foundation. This image is taken from the entrance way looking toward the old enterance to the library and youth room wing.
This is a decent full overview shot, but it does not show you the complete area that the new Activities center will use. This shows the back wall, and the entrance to the Parish Hall. The large dug out hole is where the footing for the mechanical and sports equipment storage rooms will be located.
I hope to post a new picture or two each day that visible progress is made, but there are always more pictures to look at. These can be found by clicking the following: http://stpaul-millington.org/faithforthejourney/album/ or, you can always go to the home page, and click the Faith for the Journey logo and then click the top link of the page.
