Thanksgiving Weekend Update

Filed under: Building Status Update — Webmaster @ 8:36 pm

I know it has been a little while since I have added any pictures with the snow and Thanksgiving holiday so I will fix that today.

This first image shows the roofers working on the part of the roof on Saturday.  Sunday the continued to work, and have nearly all the roof visible from the bell area complete.  More snow is on the way though…

Between the snow and freezing weather the block layers have been busy working on the last of the main walls that need to go up to enclose the main court area of the Activites Center.

While taking pictures I noticed this shadow being projected on Center Street.

Detroit Edison finished stringing the three phase power down church street.  The lines are not connected to power yet, but they are strung to the new pole that was placed on our property.  This new power will power the building.  It will make some larger loads more efficient.

Thats all for this update.

White out.

Filed under: Building Status Update — Webmaster @ 10:40 pm

Todays image shows a section of the roof that was shingled yesterday…or maybe not…
Actually there was alot of snow around today and the only progress was some duct work between the new roof and the old roof. I was unable to get a picture before it got dark.  Due to the snow and holidays the block layers will not be back until Friday.

Snow!

Filed under: Building Status Update — Webmaster @ 11:20 pm

They started putting shingles on the roof today, but you wouldn’t be able to tell from any pictures as the snow covered them all up before I was able to take pictures.  Sorry, no new pictures today.

Sea of plywood

Filed under: Building Status Update — Webmaster @ 11:16 pm

This image is taken from near the office enterance looking toward the new addition.

This image was taken from the top of the peak that was shown in the last picture ^^.  This shows the front wall of the Activities Center, and just how tall it is.

This pictue shows the “back” of the new addition.  This is the last of the main walls that have to go up.

As always there are more images here.

Plywood and Block.

Filed under: Building Status Update — Webmaster @ 11:05 pm

Here you can see the plywood going up on the roof near the office entrance.

This picture comes from the other side of the wall compared to yesterdays picture. The wall went up a few more feet today.

Wall #4

Filed under: Building Status Update — Webmaster @ 10:21 pm

The picture isn’t the best, but it shows the south wall of the main area of the activities center going up.

Hopefully the sun won’t be hiding behind the clouds and make it dark so soon tomorrow.

Trusses Complete.

Filed under: Building Status Update — Webmaster @ 10:21 pm

The trusses over the current building are complete.  Now they just need the sheeting, tar paper, and shingles. Now, there are still going to be more trusses going in over the new portions of the building, but the old flat roof is covered with trusses.

Either we planned it this way, or it just happend to work out, (I don’t remember which) but there are (7) windows on the East wall.

This isn’t that exciting of a picture, but you can see the two new poles that went in to bring us the 3-phase power from down the street.

Last “Main” Wall and more.

Filed under: Building Status Update — Webmaster @ 10:38 pm

This image shows the last of the “main” walls going up.  You can see the two door frames that will allow access to the mechanical and electrical rooms, as well as some storage space for athletic equipment.

This image shows the rest of the roof trusses going up.  There are still a few more that have to go in the valley that will cover the dome area, but that is why the crane is still sitting there.

Bits and Pieces.

Filed under: Building Status Update — Webmaster @ 11:47 pm

Here you can see the east wall in its finished state.  The south wal will start going up next.

The section of trusses that need to fill this space are set to arive on Monday.  Therefore if you normally park in front of the bell courtyard area do not do so on Monday, as they will need that space to set the trusses.

This is the entry near the youth room.  You can see OSB going up on the roof.

Another One

Filed under: Building Status Update — Webmaster @ 10:29 pm

Another wall is complete, or nearly complete (I think there is one more row of blocks to go.)
